China National Offshore Oil Corporation Announces Early Commencement of Production at the Yellowtail Project in Guyana.

The Yellowtail project is located in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana, with water depths ranging from 1,600 to 2,100 meters. The main production facilities include one Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel and one subsea production system. The project plans to bring 26 production wells and 25 water injection wells online.

The FPSO for this project is currently the largest in Guyana’s Stabroek Block, with a designed oil storage capacity of approximately 2 million barrels.

CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNOOC Limited, holds a 25% interest in the Stabroek Block. The operator ExxonMobil Guyana Limited owns a 45% stake, while Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. holds the remaining 30% interest.

The Stabroek Block, located in ultra-deep waters (1,600-2,000 meters) off northeastern Guyana, boasts an extraordinary exploration success rate with nearly 40 discoveries to date, holding total recoverable resources exceeding 11 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

Within the block, the Liza Phase 1, Liza Phase 2, and Payara projects have already commenced production. Notably, the Payara project achieved peak production within just three months after its startup in November 2023, setting a new record for ultra-deepwater field development.

The 2024 discovery of the billion-ton Bluefin field has further expanded the southeastern portion’s reserve base. A “second growth curve” is unlocked concurrently by a natural gas development strategy – the Guyanese government plans to transport associated gas via subsea pipelines to shore for power generation and petrochemical projects, creating synergies with CNOOC’s FLNG (Floating LNG) technological expertise.

This dual-track approach of “oil for production scale and gas for value enhancement” has established the Guyana partnership as a strategic buffer for CNOOC against energy transition risks.

South America has now emerged as a pivotal region for CNOOC’s overseas reserves and production. This growth epitomizes technological prowess and operational excellence:

Facing ultra-deepwater conditions exceeding 1,600 meters, CNOOC’s team spearheaded optimized drilling solutions, reducing  the costs to 20% of single well whick is below industry averages. The innovative dual-fuel system incorporated into the FPSO designs has reduced the carbon dioxides  emission intensity by 35%.

More significantly, the Guyana project has become an incubator for CNOOC’s global operations, establishing a replicable, scalable model for efficient development and operation in complex deepwater blocks. This breakthrough creates an operational paradigm transferable to future projects worldwide.

The extraction of oil and natural gas cannot be achieved without desanders.

The cyclonic desanding separator is a gas-solid separation equipment. It uses the cyclone principle to separate solids, including sediment, rock debris, metal chips, scale, and product crystals, from natural gas with condensate & water (liquids, gases, or gases-liquid mixture). Combined with SJPEE’s unique patented technologies, with a series of models of liner (, the filter element), which is made of high-tech ceramic wear-resistant (or called highly anti-erosion) materials or polymer wear-resistant materials or metal materials. High-efficiency solid particle separation or classification equipment can be designed and manufactured according to different working conditions, different fields and user requirements. With the desanding cyclone unit installed, the downstream sub-sea pipeline has been protected from from erosion and solids settling down and highly reduced the frequency of pigging operations.

Our high-efficiency cyclonic desanders, with their remarkable 98% separation efficiency for 2 microns particles removing, but very tight foot-print (skid size 1.5mx1.5m for a single vessel of D600mm or 24”NB x ~3000 t/t) for treatment of 300~400 M3/hr produced water), earned high acclaim from numerous international energy giants. our high-efficiency cyclone desander utilize advanced ceramic wear-resistant (or called, highly anti-erosion) materials, achieving a sand removal efficiency of up to 0.5 microns at 98% for gas treatment. This allows produced gas to be injected into the reservoirs for low permeability oilfield that utilizes miscible gas flooding and solves the problem of low permeability reservoirs development and significantly enhances oil recovery. Or, it can treat the produced water by removing particles of 2 microns above at 98% for directly re-injected into reservoirs, reducing marine environmental impact while enhancing oil-field productivity with water-flooding technology.

Our company is continuously committed to developing more efficient, compact, and cost-effective desander while also focusing on environmentally friendly innovations. Our desanders come in a wide variety of types and have extensive applications, such as High-efficiency Cyclone Desander, Wellhead Desander, Cyclonic Well stream crude Desander With Ceramic Liners, Water injection Desander,NG/shale Gas Desander, etc. Each design incorporates our latest innovations to deliver superior performance across various industrial applications, from conventional drilling operations to specialized processing requirements.

Our desanders are manufactured using metal materials, ceramic wear-resistant materials, and polymer wear-resistant materials.

This product’s cyclone desander has high sand removal efficiency. Different types of desanding cyclone tubes can be used to separate or remove particles required in different ranges. The equipment is small in size and does not require power and chemicals. It has a service life of about 20 years and can be discharged online. There is no need to stop production for sand discharge.

SJPEE has an experienced technical team that uses advanced cyclone tube materials and separation technology.

SJPEE’s desanders have been used on wellhead platforms and production platforms in gas and oil fields such as CNOOC, PetroChina, Malaysia Petronas,Indonesia, the Gulf of Thailand, and others. They are used to remove solids in gas or well fluid or produced water, as well as seawater solidification removal or production recovery. Water injection and water flooding to increase production and other occasions. This premier platform has positioned SJPEE as a globally recognized solution provider in solid control & management technology. We always prioritize our customers’ interests and pursue mutual development with them.
