On December 22, the Eastern South China Sea Oilfield announced that the Xijiang Oilfields Block 24 development project has commenced production. The newly constructed Xijiang 24-7 platform is China’s first offshore unmanned platform designed for the high-temperature cooling and transportation of oil-gas-water mixtures.

Xijiang Oilfields Block 24 Development Project
The Xijiang Oilfields Block 24 Development Project is located in the Pearl River Mouth Basin. It is expected to achieve a peak daily crude oil production of over 2,300 tons, which, after refining into gasoline, could meet the daily fuel demand of 250,000 household cars.
The Xijiang 24-7 unmanned wellhead platform serves as the core facility of the project. Standing approximately 138 meters tall and weighing around 6,700 tons, it is planned to operate 10 production wells.

Innovative Temperature Control Technology
The crude oil extracted from the Xijiang Block 24 has a relatively high temperature. Direct transportation would accelerate the corrosion of subsea pipelines and pose risks to safe production. To address this, the project team implemented a high-temperature cooling and transportation technology for oil-gas-water mixtures on the platform. By utilizing an innovative temperature control system, the crude oil temperature is reduced to below 87 degrees Celsius, effectively mitigating the impact of high-temperature oil on the subsea pipelines and ensuring continuous and stable production of the oilfield.
Integrated Intelligent System
The platform fully integrates intelligent oil extraction, intelligent operation and maintenance, intelligent security systems, and has achieved significant breakthroughs in areas such as remote one-click start-stop, intelligent regulation, and fault diagnosis. Additionally, the platform has established power grid interconnection and 5G communication network integration with multiple producing platforms within a 10-kilometer radius, including Xijiang 24-3 and Xijiang 24-3B. This collectively establishes a deeply integrated digital and intelligent smart oilfield cluster, further merging digital-intelligent technologies with exploration and development operations, and pioneering a new pathway for the intelligent and intensive development of China’s offshore oilfields.

The successful commissioning and operation of the Xijiang 24-7 platform marks a new breakthrough in the digital-intelligent applications of China’s offshore unmanned platforms. It has accumulated valuable experience for the nationwide advancement of intelligent construction and efficient development of offshore oilfields, and will further drive the transformation of offshore oil and gas production toward digitalization, intelligence, and intensive development.

Constructed with advanced wear-resistant ceramics, these units achieve 98% removal of particles as fine as 0.5 microns in gas streams. This capability enables the reinjection of produced gas for miscible flooding in low-permeability reservoirs, a key solution for enhancing oil recovery in challenging formations. Alternatively, they can treat produced water, removing 98% of particles larger than 2 microns for direct reinjection, thereby boosting water-flood efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.

Our new product——The High Efficiency Ultra-Fine Particle Desander is a liquid-solid separation device that utilizes an efficient centrifugal principle to separate suspended impurities—such as solids in produced water, seawater, condensate, fine particles in high-viscosity liquids, and catalyst powder in reactors—from fluids (liquids, gases, or gas-liquid mixtures). It effectively removes solid particles with sizes down to 2 microns (at 98% efficiency) or smaller.
The High Efficiency Ultra-Fine Particle Desander delivers high sand removal efficiency, capable of removing solid particles down to 2 microns. The equipment features a compact footprint, requires no external power or chemical additives, and has a service life of approximately 20 years. It offers online sand discharge capability without the need for production shutdown.
Proven in major global fields operated by CNOOC, CNPC, Petronas, and others across Southeast Asia, SJPEE desanders are deployed on wellhead and production platforms. They provide reliable solids removal from gas, well fluids, and condensate, and are critical for seawater purification, production stream protection, and water injection/flooding programs.
