The Weizhou 11-4 oilfield adjustment and surrounding area development project has successfully commenced production!

On December 3, CNOOC Limited announced that the Weizhou 11-4 oilfield adjustment and surrounding area development project has successfully commenced production.

The Weizhou 11-4 oilfield adjustment and surrounding area development project has successfully commenced production!

The project is located at an average water depth of approximately 43 meters and leverages the existing facilities of the Weizhou oilfield cluster. It includes the installation of one smart wellhead platform and one central processing platform, which are connected to the existing platform facilities via bridges. A total of 35 development wells are planned, comprising 28 production wells and 7 water injection wells. The project is expected to achieve a peak production of approximately 16,900 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2026, with the crude oil being classified as light crude.

The project adopts a collaborative development model of “three offshore processing centers + one onshore terminal,” establishing an integrated gathering and transportation hub to provide robust support for regional production capacity release and energy supply.

The core component of this production commencement is the newly built Weizhou 11-4 CEPD (Central Processing Platform), which stands as a heavyweight player in the operation.

The topside of the Weizhou 11-4 CEPD platform has a projected area exceeding that of seven standard basketball courts. Featuring a three-deck configuration (upper, middle, and lower), it weighs over 14,000 tons in total, making it the heaviest and largest offshore oil and gas platform in its operational waters.

Ensuring this massive steel fortress is securely anchored at sea is no small feat.

Given that its weight exceeds the domestic maritime floating crane capacity limit, and considering the need for retrofit connections with multiple in-service facilities, the multi-interface crossover operations pose unprecedented difficulty.

Faced with the formidable task, the project team employed the floatover installation method to complete both the offshore installation and the commissioning of all systems, achieving the entire process in just 18 days.

The team innovatively established an “Integrated Production, Engineering, and Construction” management model. They formed a specialized task force to optimize progress on an hourly basis and coordinated the inerting of process systems with construction intervals, ensuring seamless integration across all stages.

From project initiation to completion, the team successfully commissioned 123 subsystems and completed 3,347 control system point tests at the central control room. By overcoming numerous technical and management challenges, they ultimately ensured the safe and secure installation of this colossal structure.

Upon successful commissioning, the Weizhou 11-4 oilfield adjustment and surrounding area development project will establish an upstream gathering and transportation center for the Weizhou oilfield cluster. It will also integrate the Weizhou 11-4 oilfield into the local power grid, enabling coordinated regional energy development and efficient operation.

In addition to enabling collaborative operations and resource sharing between the two platforms, the project has also carried out adaptation modifications for critical equipment such as process pipelines and water injection pumps on existing facilities, including the Weizhou 11-4 CEPA platform and the Weizhou 11-4NB platform, further enhancing the overall operational efficiency of the system.

Deoiling Hydrocyclone

The extraction of oil and natural gas cannot be achieved without separation equipment.

Shanghai Shangjiang Petroleum Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. established in Shanghai in 2016, is a modern technology enterprise integrating R&D, design, production, and service. We are dedicated to developing separation and filtration equipment for the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. Our high-efficiency product portfolio includes de-oiling/dewatering hydrocyclones, desanders for micron-sized particles, and compact flotation units. We provide complete skid-mounted solutions and also offer third-party equipment retrofitting and after-sales services. Holding multiple proprietary patents and operating under a DNV-GL certified ISO-9001, ISO-14001, and ISO-45001 management system, we deliver optimized process solutions, precise product design, strict adherence to engineering specifications, and ongoing operational support.

Pre-compressor-Natural-Gas-Desanding

Our high-efficiency cyclone desanders, renowned for their exceptional 98% separation rate, have earned recognition from international energy leaders. Constructed with advanced wear-resistant ceramics, these units achieve 98% removal of particles as fine as 0.5 microns in gas streams. This capability enables the reinjection of produced gas for miscible flooding in low-permeability reservoirs, a key solution for enhancing oil recovery in challenging formations. Alternatively, they can treat produced water, removing 98% of particles larger than 2 microns for direct reinjection, thereby boosting water-flood efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.

High-Efficiency-Ultra-Fine-Particle-Desander

Our new product——The High Efficiency Ultra-Fine Particle Desander is a liquid-solid separation device that utilizes an efficient centrifugal principle to separate suspended impurities—such as solids in produced water, seawater, condensate, fine particles in high-viscosity liquids, and catalyst powder in reactors—from fluids (liquids, gases, or gas-liquid mixtures). It effectively removes solid particles with sizes down to 2 microns (at 98% efficiency) or smaller.

The High Efficiency Ultra-Fine Particle Desander delivers high sand removal efficiency, capable of removing solid particles down to 2 microns. The equipment features a compact footprint, requires no external power or chemical additives, and has a service life of approximately 20 years. It offers online sand discharge capability without the need for production shutdown.
Proven in major global fields operated by CNOOC, CNPC, Petronas, and others across Southeast Asia, SJPEE desanders are deployed on wellhead and production platforms. They provide reliable solids removal from gas, well fluids, and condensate, and are critical for seawater purification, production stream protection, and water injection/flooding programs.
Beyond desanders, SJPEE offers a portfolio of acclaimed separation technologies. Our product line includes membrane systems for natural gas CO₂ removal, deoiling hydrocyclones, high-performance compact flotation units (CFUs), and multi-chamber hydrocyclones, delivering comprehensive solutions for the industry’s toughest challenges.
